Sea Tow Services International Inc., began operations on Sept. 3, 1983, in response to a 1982 law eliminating the U.S. Coast Guard's response to non-emergency assistance calls. Capt. Joe Frohnhoefer (Sea Tow's founder/CEO) was, at that time, an officer with the Suffolk County Marine Police Unit and knew all too well about the unexpected situations that many boaters found themselves in while on the water.

With a focus on “Nationwide Coverage, Hometown Service,”® Capt. Joe set his sights on making Sea Tow the nation's premiere marine assistance company. Today Sea Tow has not only met that goal, but also holds its position as the only marine assistance company to have an international presence.

Sea Tow is headquartered in Southold, N.Y. , in the heart of the beautiful, historic North Fork. In the spring of 2006, Sea Tow relocated its corporate offices to a newly-built facility within Southold, which conforms to the U.S. Green Council's LEED Standards.

Most insurance policies will cover the policy holder for towing up to a specific dollar amount. That amount can often equate to only a fraction of the cost of an actual fee-for-service tow.

In addition, other key services such as fuel drops, jump starts, prop disentanglements or even rendering assistance on the water to get you back underway, may not be covered.

Sea Tow is assurance, not insurance. We assure you that, as a member, you will receive priority treatment and have a network of professional marine assistance PROs® at your beck and call 24/7/365.

Plus:

  • No hits against your insurance when you call us for assistance
  • No rate increases for usage
  • No three strikes you're out rule (some providers stop protecting their members after just three calls for assistance!! Not Sea Tow!)

Yes, through programs like Sea Care®, we partner with dealers and manufacturers throughout the marine industry to provide new boat owners with a FREE Sea Tow membership. Because of its simplicity, the Sea Care program can also be customized to fit the needs of businesses in all sectors of the marine industry (engines, products, accessories, etc.). To inquire about becoming a Sea Care participant, contact twilson@seatow.com.

We also partner with AAA , the American Sailing Association (ASA), the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA), Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) and many other organizations to offer special discounts on Sea Tow memberships. To learn more about how to take advantage of their discounted rates, visit the Deals & Discounts section of our Web site. Alternatively, if you would like to become a Sea Tow partnering company or organization, please contact editors@seatow.com.

Yes, the Sea Tow network is comprised of highly trained marine salvage professionals. As such, we maintain a year-round catastrophic recovery/response team that can quickly mobilize and respond to storm-ravaged communities nationwide.

Because so many of our franchisee locations reside along the U.S. coastline, we are capable of being on-scene within days (often hours) of a catastrophic event. Our response teams work in tandem with federal and state emergency response agencies, the insurance companies and local recovery crews to get communities back on their feet as quickly as possible.

Our catastrophic recovery teams were very widely recognized for their rapid, professional vessel recovery efforts in the wakes of hurricanes Frances and Ivan in 2004 and hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma in 2005. Click here to see a sampling of the media coverage our crews garnered.
