Life Jacket Loaner Stations Provide Peace of Mind to Boaters Across the Country

Safety should always be a boater’s number one priority when they’re around the water, no matter what corner of the country they may live. A current in a river can be just as powerful as a Pacific Ocean wave.

In light of this, the Sea Tow Foundation is here to encourage safety from coast to coast with its Life Jacket Loaner Station Program, which provides more than 40,500 life jackets across 400-plus loaner stations throughout the U.S., all free of charge.

A staple at boating events across the country, a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station could be found at the 28th Annual East End Seaport Museum’s Maritime Festival to provide kayak competitors peace of mind in various timed races. The foundation also partnered with the U.S. Power Squadron to educate event goers on how to choose the right life jacket.

Through a partnership between the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA), Onyx Outdoors and Sea Tow Southern Connecticut, stations were set up to provide life jackets to children and adults visiting the Norwalk Boat Show to use and return as they explored the boats and yachts docked at city’s Norwalk Cove Marina. Life jackets could also be found at the ready for any of the event’s “Try It Cove” water activities.

Sea Tow Fort Lauderdale wanted to keep boaters and families safe year-round with stocked life jacket stations at the Hall of Fame Marina and the City of Pompano Beach. Because of the Sea Tow Foundation, summer fun was never cut short because a life jacket was forgotten, giving the Fort Lauderdale community peace of mind when the waves were calling.

For attendees at the Smith Mountain Lake ACBS Antique Boat Festival and Show, taking in the sights of antique boats paired nicely with the scenic vistas surrounding the lake. As always, safety was key with a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station open to all attendees in the heart of the beautiful landscape at Mariner’s Landing.

Three life jacket loaner stations will be present at the upcoming Tampa Bay Boat Show, supplying more than 160 life jackets to visitors. By partnering with NMMA and Onyx Outdoors once again, exploring each boat docked along the water never has to be a concern -- especially for young children.

Thanks to the Sea Tow Foundation, boaters all across the country will all know that calming feeling of safety a life jacket provides while out on the water. No matter what body of water you might call home, Sea Tow is there for you.

Is there a life jacket station near you? Tell us where and share your stories with us about using a life jacket when it was most needed.
