No two Sea Tow captains are the same; and with a franchise base featuring thousands of captains at more than 100 locations across the United States and beyond, our network of captains features just about every background you can think of. However, if there’s one thing that unites each and every captain throughout our extensive network, it’s passion – a passion for helping people, for being on the water, and for repairing things that need fixing.
Our newest franchise owner – Sea Tow Key Biscayne’s Eduardo Barreto – is no different.
For the past 29 years, Capt. Eduardo has plied his trade in corporate America – boasting nearly three decades in the cell phone industry. He’s had a successful career, traveling all across the United States and beyond through his work, but there’s always been something tugging at him.
When he was just 18 years old, Eduardo purchased his first boat – a 21’ Twin Wellcraft. Since then, his passion for boating has never waned.
Over the course of the past few years, that passion began to tug at him – more and more as time went on. In 2016, the idea first crossed his mind to purchase a Sea Tow franchise and turn that passion for boating into a lifestyle.
Since then, the thought has always been at the back of his mind – that is, until the stars aligned for Eduardo to turn his dream into a reality.
Earlier this year, Eduardo was given a choice – move internationally and keep working in the cell phone industry or head off the beaten path and do his own thing. Living in Kansas at the time, hundreds of miles away from his children, who still lived in his home state of Florida, the decision was easy.
By returning to Florida to take the helm at Sea Tow Key Biscayne, Capt. Eduardo was able to go back home, spend time with his children and pursue one of his oldest passions. It was a no-brainer.
In the weeks since Capt. Eduardo first stepped into the captain’s chair in Key Biscayne on October 26, he’s loved every minute of it. Working with Sea Tow allows him to follow a number of his passions, even beyond just being out on the water each and every day.
Capt. Eduardo loves helping people, working with his hands, fixing things and, of course, boating, and being a Sea Tow captain allows him to fulfill each of those each and every day.
As if that wasn’t enough, Capt. Eduardo is also joined each day by his loving wife, Vanessa Nadal, who spearheads the marketing side of the business.
With five experienced captains and four boats, Capt. Eduardo and Vanessa have hit the ground running. Together, they form a true dynamic duo.
Over the course of the coming months and years, the husband and wife team plan to continue to build from the already solid foundation that was put in place by the previous ownership.
Capt. Eduardo plans to continue to get the Sea Tow name out there in the local community, building relationships with his colleagues at other marine businesses, as well as local police, fire, marine wildlife and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Regardless of what the future holds, Capt. Eduardo is right at home on the local waters, and, no matter what, he’ll be there when local boaters need him most. After all, with such a strong passion for boating, he was born for this.
With Capt. Eduardo in charge, the future is bright in Key Biscayne!
