Sea Tow Captains Tow in Toys

The Holiday Season is all about giving – and that statement rings no truer than at Sea Tow franchises all around the country. Many franchises – like those in Central Florida or Virginia – participate in a plethora of unique and spirited fundraisers this time of year.

Take Sea Tow Central Florida Lakes, for example. For the past 14 years, Owner and Head Captain Kerry Kline has organized an event with several of his fellow marine businesses, as well as the local Marine Reserves unit, to help benefit Toys-for-Tots.

This year, Capt. Kerry outdid himself. With the help of several local partners – including Holiday Marine and the Leesburg Boat Club – Sea Tow Central Florida Lakes collected 3,622 pounds worth of new, unwrapped toys and nearly $5,500 is donations! That’s almost two tons worth of toys!

Aptly named the 14th Annual Toys-for-Tots Boat Parade and Tournament, participants ventured in from both land and sea to the annual “weigh-in” at Leesburg Boat Club on Lake Harris, where they dropped off and weighed their hauls, just like a fishing tournament. The only thing not allowed to be weighed, Capt. Kerry says, is fish!

After the weigh-in, participants joined the local Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Marine Reserves for lunch – the proceeds of which also went to Toys-for-Tots!

But Capt. Kerry is far from the only Sea Tow captain collecting toys for children in need this holiday season. All throughout the country, other franchises are joining in on the festivities.

At Sea Tow Smith Mountain Lake, Captains Rick and Nancy Ellett are yet again partnering with Lake Christian Ministries to collect toys as part of its “A Child’s Christmas” program.

Throughout the month of December, the Elletts will be setting up shop at local Dollar General locations to collect new, unwrapped toys.

Last year, they collected nearly 1,000 new toys and two bicycles! This holiday season, they hope to do even better.

Check out the Holiday Boat Parade and Toys for Tots and Sea Tow Stuff-a-Boat events from this past month at Sea Tow Ft. Myers, Sea Tow Daytona/Ponce/New Symyrna and Sea Tow Hampton Roads!
