Our Team

Capt. Tom Kehlenbach
Captain Tom has been with Sea Tow for over 20 years as a franchise owner and Captain. During this time, Captain Tom and crew have safely serviced over 10,000 boaters in distress. Captain Tom is 40 hour Hazmat certified and has his 8 hour Hazmat Supervisor Certification.

Capt. Tom Heinssen
Captain Tom is a 20-year retired Connecticut State Police Lieutenant and currently serves active duty as a Old Lyme Police Officer. Captain Tom is a Scuba Diver and M.R.T. Medical Response Technician. Tom spent his teenage years on fishing boats on the south shore of Long Island.

Capt. Ken Carnes
Captain Ken is a 20-year retired Lieutenant State of Connecticut Corrections Officer. He is also a certified scuba diver. Captain Ken spent part of the summer working at the BP Oil Spill and is Hazmat Certified.

Capt. Bob Murphy
Captain Bob is a retired New Haven Police Lieutenant. He has over 8 years on the Police Dive Team and is 40 hour Hazmat Certified.

Capt. Jay Rankin
Captain Jay Rankin is an Active Duty Police Officer for Old Saybrook. He has been on the Police Dive Team and a K-9 Handler for 10 years. Captain Jay is also a Deputy Chief for the Old Saybrook Fire Department , an E.M.T. Emergency Medical Technician and is Hazmat Certified.

James Cranston
Commander United States Navy Retired. After retiring as Commander of several Navy ships, Captain Jim teamed up with us to run our Sea Training program.

Capt. Brian Peterson
Brian's father was a commercial fisherman meaning Brian has been on the water all of his life. If you want to know where the fish are biting, Brian would be the one to ask. United States Navy

Capt. Frank Boccia

Capt. Tyler Bates
Tyler recently graduated from Mass Maritime. He spent the entire Summer of 2011 working at the BP Oil Spill.

Tom Heinssenn Jr.
Tom recently graduated from Old Saybrook High School. He is a certified E.M.T. and a member of the Old Saybrook Fire Department as well as a paid member of the Old Saybrook Ambulance.


Our Boats

Justice - 21' Boston Whaler

21' Boston Whaler Justice with a single 300 hp outboard.  This vessel covers the upper portions of the CT River and is moored at Brewer Deep River Marina. Our vessels are ready to perform all towing, ungrounding, jump starts, fuel delivery and other on-water assistance operations. Sea Tow boats can be spotted by their distinct yellow hulls.


Branford - 27' Boston Whaler

27' Boston Whaler with twin 250 HP. engines.  This vessel services Branford, Guilford and New Haven local waters. Our vessels are ready to perform all towing, ungrounding, jump starts, fuel delivery and other on-water assistance operations. Sea Tow boats can be spotted by their distinct yellow hulls.


Central Connecticut - 25' Boston Whaler

Our vessels are ready to perform all towing, ungrounding, jump starts, fuel delivery and other on-water assistance operations. Sea Tow boats can be spotted by their distinct yellow hulls.


Guardian - 27' Boston Whaler

Our vessels are ready to perform all towing, ungrounding, jump starts, fuel delivery and other on-water assistance operations. Sea Tow boats can be spotted by their distinct yellow hulls.
