Sea Tow "Blackjack" is a 24-foot Sea Ark RAM RHIB fast response towboat. The vessel recently was featured in an episode of Ship Shape TV hosted by John Greviskis in which it received a new nonskid deck from Line-X Protective Coatings and was rigged locally by Atlantic Marine in Port Orange, Fla. The new vessel is equipped with brand new twin Mercury 150 4-stroke outboards, an inflatable Wing air collar, Garmin 740s Navigation/Chartplotter, two Garmin VHF radios, 300 feet of specialized tow line, 200 GPM 2-inch gas dewatering pump, Rule 8000 electric dewatering pump, and much more, making it an ideal addition to the Sea Tow fleet. Based out of Lighthouse Boatyard in Ponce Inlet, the new boat will enable Sea Tow Daytona/Ponce to continue offering its members and other boaters in the area the highest level of service and quality in marine assistance. The boat is painted Sea Tow’s trademark yellow color, a familiar signal to boaters that help is on the way.
The Defiant is the 3rd official Sea Tow boat ever built. She was built at the Port of Egypt Boatyard in Southold, NY in 1983 and has 3" of glass below her waterline. This boat was built at a time when no one really knew what an assistance tow boat was or how one should be built - so they built her strong and heavy!
She is equipped with over 300' of tow line and ready to tackle whatever is asked of her. She has a spacious aft deck that allows her ample room to conduct salvage operations and ferry salvage equipment. Onboard she carries various rescue equipment and supplies to meet every type of conditions or assistance situation.
